Optical engineer – in situ lithography for the development of single-photon sources (M/F)

We are actively seeking an optical research engineer to develop advanced optical spectroscopy and lithography tools for the fabrication of deterministic single-photon sources.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving the research programme of the joint QDlight laboratory (C2N-Quandela) by designing, developing and exploiting the next generation of in situ lithography tools for cavity quantum dot research. Over time, this role may evolve to include new responsibilities in the design and development of new capabilities in the lithography steps, as well as in device characterisation and validation.

Single photon source clean room engineer (M/F)

We are actively seeking a research engineer to participate in the manufacture of single cavity quantum dot components.

You will join the research team responsible for improving the performance of these components (source brilliance, photon indistinguishability) and adding functionalities (control of the quantum dot charge state, optical mode engineering, strain control, etc.).

You will play a key role in leading the research programme of the joint QDlight laboratory (C2N-Quandela) by improving the manufacturing process, proposing new processes and designing new devices.

In addition, you will use simple optical set-ups to characterise the influence of fabrication on the optical properties of microcavities.

Your results will guide the research strategy for next-generation devices and enable the development of new single-photon sources, entangled-photon sources and spin-photon interfaces.

LightInParis PhD opportunity – Nuclear spin cooling for the generation of long photon cluster states by a III-V semiconductor quantum dot (M/F)

The thesis proposal addresses the field of quantum information with non-classical light states produced by solid-state devices, and involves knowledge and know-how at the frontiers of quantum optics, semiconductor physics and nuclear magnetism.

Main objectives:

  • Implementing experimental protocols for “cooling” nuclear spins in III-V semiconductor quantum dots to increase the electron spin coherence time in the weak magnetic field regime, such that these protocols are compatible with the generation of photon cluster state using the spin-photon entanglement provided by a quantum dot.

  • Demonstration of long cluster state (>10 entangled photons).
