Women for Quantum – a manifesto of values

Over 150 scientists from 85 institutions across the globe including Pascale Senellart, co-authored a manifesto advocating for gender equality in quantum science. The “Women for Quantum: Manifesto of Values” outlines a comprehensive plan to address systemic barriers faced by women in the field and foster a more inclusive scientific community.

Key initiatives include:

  • Transforming Practices: Rethinking how quantum science is conducted to prioritize equity and collaboration.
  • Empowering Leadership: Promoting women in decision-making roles by redistributing power and resources.
  • Eliminating Bias: Tackling unconscious and systemic gender biases in hiring, funding, and recognition processes.
  • Ensuring Safety: Creating harassment-free environments and addressing microaggressions.
  • Redefining Success Metrics: Advocating for holistic evaluations that value teamwork and mentorship alongside traditional metrics.

This manifesto aims to not only benefit women but also strengthen the entire quantum science ecosystem.
