Dr. Olivier Krebs

Olivier Krebs obtained his doctorate in 1998 from the University of Paris VII for his work on the birefringence properties of certain semiconductor quantum wells. He was recruited by the CNRS at the Pierre Aigrain Laboratory (ENS-Paris) to study the possibilities of engineering birefringence and the Pockels effect in superlattices of quantum wells. In 2002, he joined the Photonics and Nanostructures Laboratory (now the Nanosciences and Nanotechnology Centre) to develop a new activity focusing on the spin properties of semiconductor quantum dots.
Research Director since 2012, he continues to be interested in this fundamental physics while contributing to work aimed at using quantum dots as a source of single photons and as a possible quantum memory in the context of quantum technologies.
