PEPR OQULUS

The OQuLus (Optical Quantum Calculus) project was launched on November 30, 2023 at C2N, Uiversité Paris-Saclay, CNRS. It is funded as part of the national quantum strategy (France 2030, grant effective from October 1, 2023, amounting to 11,500,000 euros). It is part of the Quantum Technologies PEPR, co-sponsored by the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), the Commissariat à l’énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA) and the Institut national de recherche en informatique et en automatique (Inria).
The OQuLus consortium brings together the expertise of French groups with internationally recognized results, ranging from semiconductor physics to integrated optics, for both digital encoding – discrete variables – and analog encoding – continuous variables – of information in quantum light.
These French experts in photonics and quantum technologies are joining forces to build two prototypes of NISQ (Noisy Intermediate Scale Quantum) optical quantum computers and supply the hardware needed to achieve a full-stack photonic quantum computer.
